Our Goals
The post-1945 security order is not under stress: it is disintegrating. Nuclear risk, climate collapse, AI governance, pandemic failure, and democratic erosion are not separate crises. They are interconnected symptoms of the same governance failure, and they are accelerating. No existing institution is designed to address them as a system. Women Transforming Global Security (WTGS) is building the framework that will.
Our Story
Created at the invitation of Mary Robinson (former President of Ireland; UN High Commissioner for Human Rights) and Helen Clark (three-time Prime Minister of New Zealand), WTGS brings together the world’s most consequential women experts across sectors to do something unprecedented: to re-conceive security itself.
Women Transforming Global Security launched on September 21, 2025, at a lively gathering in New York City, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace & Security. With over 100 leaders present from around the world this launch brought together those working to set new directions for global security through their work in policy, diplomacy, and philanthropy.
Since the launch, WTGS has gathered leaders in San Francisco, the United Kingdom, Melbourne, Munich, and Mexico City. In addition to bringing the work of WTGS to global stages we convene monthly with the women leaders to dive deeper into the work needed by international institutions across generations to lead the charge in developing a new integrated global security approach.
What comes next?
Near the end of 2026 we will preview the Integrated Security framework at the Reykjavik Global Forum: a portfolio of decision support and governance tools built for the conditions of this century.
In 2027, we will put the framework to the test, launching pilot projects that apply it to real world challenges with the expertise of the women leaders guiding the way.
What does success look like?
We will know we are winning when the security discourse shifts, and governments, multilateral institutions, and civil society are working from a common premise: that security is inseparable from human and planetary wellbeing, and that the threats likely to determine our collective future cannot be resolved in isolation from each other.
